The air conditioners are still installed, but we’re leaving our windows open at night to catch the cool breezes. The vegetable garden is knocking out tomatoes and sprouting herbs in their full harvest glory. Summer is just now starting to wind down, or at least we’re starting to think about the month ahead.
Arlington Entrepreneurs will be busy this fall with events, group activities and more: coffee breaks and happy hours, networking events and presentations.
Want a low-stress entree to fall events? Join us for a snack and beverage at Kickstand Cafe on September 17. We’ll be waiting for you!
New events always spook me. Even though I’ve been an event manager for going on 30 years, I still get butterflies and a tingly feeling in my my hands whenever I try something for the first time. Happy hour? Friday? Menotomy? Would anybody show up? Would everybody show up? I had no idea and the thought of sitting at a crowded bar, by myself, for three hours was downright disturbing.
I should have had more confidence. About a half hour after I shyly reserved a table for four a few folks walked in and asked for the entrepreneurs group. If you were at Menotomy last Friday, I was the one who floated to the ceiling at around 7:30 pm. Thank you, Mike and friends!
We moseyed on over to the bar (still waiting for a table) and started chatting over drinks. Then, I saw someone else – hello, Maureen! – and waved her over. We now had a little posse, still standing near the bar. I had the privilege of meeting some new folks (how do you do, Dan!), who were entrepreneurs and who happened to be there anyway. I think that’s how it went. I’m not sure, since I was too busy hyperventilating!
To make a long story short, people showed up and had a really time, yours truly included. I’m really beginning to like this get-out-and-socialize thing. This was my first time at the Menotomy Bar and Grill and I was really pleased with the overall ambiance as well as the food. Their beer selection was outstanding. I’m into craft beer, more for the taste than anything else. Thank you, Arlington! And thank you, Arlington Entrepreneurs for joining me on that (not very) lonely Friday evening. We’ll do it again, promise. And this time I’ll reserve a table in advance.
